What would Amos say?

Every since the addition of the study on Amos to the Treasures in Jars of Clay (AMOS.pdf (2 MB)), I keep catching myself clomping around like a "cow of Bashan". As I stand in the grocery store, dazed by the selection of hundreds of kinds of cereal, or walk by aisle after aisle of decorations for our homes, I begin to ponder - What is the real cost of an indulgent lifestyle? Am I oppressing others with my "harmless" extravagances? How can our church communities practice better stewardship, and show more care for those in the world around us? What would Amos have to say?
